Community helps bring new life to school garden

A previously unused and overgrown area at a Warminster primary school has been transformed into a vibrant new outdoor space thanks to the efforts of a local company and volunteers.

The new ‘Hope Garden’ was created St John’s School with the support of international defence and aerospace company Babcock, whose Warminster-based team carried out the work over three days. Volunteers, organised by Babcock staff Paul and Nick, took on the task of clearing the area and creating a bright and welcoming space for pupils and staff.

The St John’s Parent Teacher Association played a key role in getting the project off the ground, reaching out to Babcock and helping to raise funds. They also helped plant up the garden alongside volunteers.

Buriton Nursery in Warminster also supported the project, donating plants and offering expert advice on what would thrive in the school’s garden space.

Assistant Head Charlotte Walker said, “We’re over the moon with our new Hope Garden. The children and staff felt like they were part of a garden makeover show! The transformation was truly incredible and the children were overjoyed to see their beautiful new garden. Over the last few weeks, they have been incredibly busy watering and tending the plants, especially during the very hot spells.”
