Manager Rob Nash made three changes to Warminster’s starting line-up for today’s home game against Bristol Telephones.
In came Henry McFerran in defence and Charlie Walton and Jake Wright in midfield. George Bendle, Corey Gardner and Tyler Gane dropped to the bench.
Warminster started well and took an early lead in the seventh minute. Jack Newman chased down a loose ball getting to it just ahead of Telephones’ keeper Ashton Trott. Stooping to head the ball he beat the keeper, and it rolled into the net, 1-0.
On 19 minutes Tyson Pollard doubled Warminster’s lead. He received the ball in space just outside the penalty area and curled a left foot shot around Trott, 2-0.
The visitors started to get on top and they went close to reducing the arrears in the 29th minute. Telephones’ Liam McCracken got on the end of a quick break and his shot from outside the box struck the post.
Four minutes later Liam McCracken again troubled the home defence getting a shot on target, but Warminster’s keeper Jack Amor dived to his right to save well. At the break Warminster led 2-0.
The second-half started with Telephones still dominating and on 51 minutes they again hit the woodwork. Warminster needed to ease the pressure with a third goal, and it came in the 66th minute. Charlie Walton outside the box on the left saw Trott out of his goal and curled a superb shot over the stranded keeper into the far top corner, 3-0.
That should have allowed the hosts to relax but just two minutes later they conceded a goal through a header from the dangerous Liam McCracken, 3-1.
On 75 minutes, Jack Newman got on the end of a long throw in and set up Corey Gardner but Trott saved well. Then on 84 minutes Warminster substitute George Bendle was brought down in the box. Up stepped spot kick specialist Jordan Pinder who made no mistake from the spot, 4-1.
Two minutes later it was almost five when George Bendle robbed the Telephones’ keeper just outside the box but his shot from a tight angle rolled just wide of the post. Warminster saw out the remaining time to take the win and get back on track after three straight defeats.
