Warminster Journal invites a Wiltshire councillor to write about issues of their choosing.
Cllr Russell Hawker
FOLLOWING the recent success the police have had in Warminster catching lots of speeding drivers with a speed gun and also dealing with a particularly notorious and dangerous driver who drove at incredibly fast speeds in a white Audi and then a black Astra (which got seized and crushed), I am pleased to make the following announcement:
Wiltshire Council’s Warminster Area Board meeting on Thursday 11th December will focus on this whole issue. It starts at 7pm in Warminster Library (access via the back door) and is open to the public as usual.
I will publicise the agenda with an online link when it is published about 10 days beforehand.
Wiltshire Police’ Road Safety officer based in Devizes will be giving a talk and also local Inspector Lou Oakley will be there anyway giving an overall police activity update. Both will be able to explain what is happening and answer questions.
I’ve also asked for the new Sergeant in Warminster to attend as he has been out with a speed gun catching large numbers of speeders recently and has promised to make this a priority going forward. He attended a recent town council meeting to give an update, and it was clear he is close to the action himself and would have plenty to say if he can attend on 11th December.
