A new social walking group for younger women has been set up by two Warminster friends.
A total of 24 local women attended the first Third Space Girls walk in Longleat Forest.
Friends Katie and Ellie created Third Space Girls, a social walking community for women aged 18 to 30 to bring like-minded people together outdoors and help them meet new people.
“It was such a success, and it was wonderful to see so many people interested in the walk,” said Katie. “Everyone was so lovely and there was a great community atmosphere. We had to split the walk into two groups, morning and afternoon, because there were so many people.
“We were very lucky with the weather; we probably came over prepared expecting lots of rain, but it was really beautiful. We did an 8km loop with a coffee and pupuccino break, then stopped at the The Bath Arms afterwards for a drink and a snack. It couldn’t have gone much better for the first event and we’re getting straight on with planning the next couple of events.”
The group aims to help people meet in a ‘third space’ – somewhere outside home and work.
“I think, for Ellie in particular, because she works from home, she is very much at home all the time,” Katie added. “She’s got two dogs and is very outdoorsy with them, but I think she wanted to find good people who did the same kind of thing.”
The pair aim to organise a monthly walk and hope to expand activities to include pub nights, wild swims, group runs, bouldering and full-day hikes.
