Pupils at St John’s CofE Primary School wore green clothes for a day to raise funds for a local campaign group hoping to create an open space in the town centre.
The day raised funds for the Warminster Community Green Association and was one of many events the association is planning throughout the summer to raise money towards the potential purchase of the site next to St Lawrence Chapel, with the aim of turning it into a green space.
“We wore green today to support our local community,” said a Year 5 pupil. “It’s important to have green spaces. If they continually build more houses there will barely be any open spaces left.”
Mayor Jack Jones also visited the school to support the event.
Campaigner Maggy Daniell said, “He enjoyed a tour of the school and meeting the children and was impressed by their community spirit in supporting this campaign.”
