The Woolstore Theatre in Codford is preparing for a major milestone next year: its 100th anniversary. But before the celebrations begin in earnest, the historic venue is setting the stage for something a little more sinister – and a lot more fun.
This week, the Woolstore presents Obvious Guilt, a thrilling murder mystery that promises suspense, laughs, and plenty of unexpected twists.
Performances will run for three nights only – 4th, 5th and 6th September – offering audiences a chance to experience an evening of classic whodunit entertainment.
“We thought a murder mystery would be a fantastic way to kick off the build-up to our centenary year,” said Jenny Johnson, the Woolstore’s secretary and director of the play. “Obvious Guilt is sharp, surprising, and thoroughly entertaining – a perfect reflection of what community theatre does best.
“Founded in 1926, the Woolstore Theatre has been a cultural landmark in Codford for nearly a century, evolving from its early days of amateur dramatics and wartime cinema into a vibrant hub for theatre-lovers across Wiltshire. The theatre’s centennial celebration in 2026 will include a full programme of performances, retrospectives and community events, to be announced in the coming months.
“We’re incredibly proud of the Woolstore’s legacy. This isn’t just a celebration of theatre -it’s a celebration of the people and stories that have kept this place alive for 100 years.”
The show is on Thursday 4th, Friday 5th & Saturday 6th September. Doors Open at 7pm and the show starts at 7.30pm. For more details and to book tickets, visit www.thewoolstoretheatre.co.uk
