A Warminster artist is continuing her tradition of hiding oil paintings in the town’s park for people to find over Christmas.
Tanya Hinton will hide small original oil paintings around the Lake Pleasure Grounds on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. There will be three paintings to find in total, with one hidden each day from 12pm.
This will be Tanya’s sixth year of creating a treasure hunt with her paintings, a tradition she also continues at Easter.
For safety reasons, these paintings are not hidden in the children’s play area, skate park or on the banks of the lake or stream.
“I started painting around the town in 2021 to brighten up closed down boarded up buildings,” said Tanya. “This caught people’s imagination and evolved into a town trail. As shops open the paintings come down but I thought it would be fun if I did a little treasure hunt.
“People always turn out to find the painting even in the coldest wettest weather! Like my trail I just want to make people smile!”
Tanya is well known in Warminster for her street art paintings of animals and birds. Some of her most recent work in the town is a mural in the window of the old Town Pets shop, which will remain there whilst the building undergoes renovations.
