A SERVICE of thanksgiving and remembrance will take place at St Lawrence Chapel in Warminster next week, offering a chance to remember a loved one, friend or colleague.
The event is on Tuesday 9th December at 6pm at St Lawrence Chapel, Warminster and has been arranged by funeral directors Anna and Beverley, ‘The Girls in the Cornmarket’, from Iles and Vincent and is open to everyone.
Anna said, “Christmas time is a poignant time of year for many people, particularly those facing their first Christmas after the bereavement of a loved one.
“We decided to hold a service for anyone who may have lost a partner, parent, sibling or a friend, and acknowledge how the build up to Christmas can be an incredibly sad and difficult time and one that many might even be dreading because of the memories it brings.”
Bev added, “We have held this service every year and we hope that it is a sensitive and empathetic service suitable for all spiritual beliefs at this very poignant time of year.
“The feedback from previous services has always been of comfort, support and compassion, which is what we hope it is for.”
The service will include a time of reflection and the opportunity to light a candle in memory of a lost loved one; it is a quiet, gentle service with some music, a short time of prayer and some short poems, in the company of others who are mourning and remembering their loved ones.
Anna continued, “The service starts at 6pm, but we will be in the chapel with tea, coffee and cakes available before the service, thanks to Kim and her team from Tea and Sympathy Catering; all are welcome irrespective or when or where the funeral took place.”
