Corsley is hosting its first ever village-wide scarecrow competition this month, with more than 36 entries now on display across the village.
The event, organised by Acres Supply Garden Centre in the village, launched on 1st August and runs until 28th August. Participants have created scarecrows of all shapes and sizes, with designs ranging from traditional farmhands to well-known figures including Spiderman, Jeremy Clarkson, and Mr McGregor from Peter Rabbit.
“We’ve had an overwhelming response with over 36 imaginative entries!” said the team from Acres Supply. “With neighbours coming together to build scarecrows, it’s been a great way to encourage kids to be creative whilst keeping them busy during the school holidays and boosting community spirit.
“This community celebration has turned quiet corners and garden gates into a charming trail of creativity. From classic countryside farmhands to a carrot-thieving Mr McGregor (and his rabbits!), Spiderman, Jeremy Clarkson and even some lycra-clad cyclists. Each scarecrow tells its own tale, and they’re all competing for your vote.
“This is more than a competition – it’s a celebration of village spirit, imagination and fun. We’ve been blown away by the response!”
Residents and visitors alike are invited to join the fun by picking up a free scarecrow map and voting slip at Acres Supply.
Winners will be revealed at the Corsley Fayre on Saturday 30th August, where organisers hope to showcase as many scarecrows as possible in a grand end-of-summer display.
“Don’t miss your chance to be part of Corsley’s first ever scarecrow competition – grab a FREE map and make your vote count!” said the Acres Supply team.
