A local teenager has been signed to Premier League side AFC Bournemouth’s U15 academy.
Anderson Tieman, a student at Kingdown School, was offered the position following an eight-week trial at the club. He is now training three to four times a week with professional youth coaches and will be competing against top southern clubs including Arsenal and Chelsea.
“I was really made up and excited to join a premiership club,” said Anderson, who plays as a centre back. “It’s very hard at present, as I’m 14 and currently playing against older boys then me. However, it is getting me prepared for what the future holds.
“I really want to go through all the age groups at Bournemouth, that’s 16s, 18s then to U21s through to the first team. Bournemouth really want to bring people through its academy to reach the first team. I hope I will be fortunate enough to get there!”
Several clubs approached Anderson to sign him for their academies, from local professional clubs to Southampton F.C. and Bristol City.
He said, “I was offered scholarships from a few clubs but chose Bournemouth as it’s always been my first choice.”
Anderson has previously played for local teams as well as elite grassroots teams, including Rockleaze Rangers in Bristol.
A spokesperson from Kingdown School said, “A talented centre back, Anderson has impressed in both school fixtures and local youth football, catching the eye of AFC Bournemouth’s academy coaches with his skill, awareness and commitment. Staff at Kingdown have praised his dedication and teamwork, and the whole school community is incredibly proud of him.
“Congratulations, Anderson! We can’t wait to see how you get on with the AFC Bournemouth U15s.”
