Six local primary schools have worked together on two projects to benefit the wider Warminster community.
The Compass Collaboration group comprises Wylye Valley CE Primary, Sambourne CE Primary, Minster CE Primary, Horningsham Primary, Crockerton CE Primary and Sutton Veny CE Primary Schools.
Recently, all the schools took part in a project based on the theme of ‘The Journey’. The results were expressed through writing, art and other creative mediums, showcasing the talents of the young learners. Staff and pupils then curated a public exhibition at the Athenaeum, celebrating both the diversity and shared values of the Compass Collaboration schools.
Following this, pupils from each school took part in the ‘Share the Miracle’ initiative by delivering Easter eggs to members of their local communities. Each school collected donations from families, then pupils set out to hand-deliver the treats.
Rob Barnes, headteacher at Wylye Valley School, said, “Share the Miracle is a fantastic initiative and I am so proud of the ambassadors from all the schools who have driven this forward. It was wonderful to see the joy on the faces of the recipients.
“I am also grateful for the generosity of the wider school communities of all six schools.”
Wylye Valley School delivered eggs to a range of places, including the Children’s Ward at Salisbury District Hospital, Codford GP Surgery, Warminster Library and various charity shops in Warminster. Horningsham School donated their eggs to Henford House Nursing Home.
Sutton Veny School shared their donations with Sutton Veny Nursing Home, the Chat Café and the Recycling Centre in Warminster. Crockerton School delivered eggs to The Learning Meadow Outdoor Nursery, Longbridge Deverill Nursing Home and Warminster Community Hospital.
Minster School gave their eggs to the MS Therapy Centre and Wren House, while Sambourne School brought theirs to Warminster Police Station.
