A charity walk has been organised to honour the memory of Vince Wright, a much-loved figure in Warminster’s football community.
Vince played for Warminster Town’s first team and reserves in the late 90s, as well as for local village teams in later years.
He died on 9th February this year, aged 52, after suffering a cardiac arrest while playing walking football for his Amesbury team in Poole.
Friend Richard Young has now organised a charity walk on 13th July in memory of Vince. It will raise money for the Salvation Army and the Trussell Trust.
Richard said, “Vince, or Vinny as he was also known, was one of the nicest and funniest people you could wish to meet. He loved life and had loads more to give.
“I used to teach fitness classes and Vinny would come along with his mate Brett to my spin classes. They were a comedy duo, and the fun and laughter they created was palpable.
“Vinny played football for many local teams, and his only flaw was that he was a big Manchester United fan! We call him a legend — a Warminster legend and a thoroughly good egg.”
Andrea, Vince’s partner, added, “My partner Vince was the kindest, most thoughtful human being you could ever meet. He had the ability to connect with people and make anyone and everyone laugh. He was a wonderful partner, father, brother, son, uncle and friend. He will always be deeply loved and profoundly missed.”
The Walk for Vinny fundraiser on Sunday 13th July will begin at 10am at Warminster Town Football Club and continue towards Cley Hill.
People will be able to chat, reminisce, laugh and remember their favourite memories of Vinny as they walk 10km in his memory.
Please confirm your attendance by emailing richardcyoung47@gmail.com.
It has been suggested that participants make a donation of £10. You can donate at https://buff.ly/PFEghAA or on the day.
