Cllr Bill Parks
Supporting Warminster and nearby villages
As a councillor for Wiltshire and Warminster Town, I am dedicated to supporting our town and local village communities. I collaborate with various organisations, clubs and groups to secure funding for initiatives such as coffee mornings, lunch clubs, enhanced sports facilities and play areas.
I regularly attend parish council meetings in the surrounding villages of Maiden Bradley, Horningsham, Corsley, Chapmanslade and Upton Scudamore to stay informed and represent our community. These sessions allow people to share concerns, and I update everyone on local projects and Wiltshire Council news.
Even though the political leadership has shifted at County Hall, I’m still involved with committees like Overview and Scrutiny, Environment Select and Western Area Planning. Continuing as chairman of the Local Highway and Footpath Improvement Group, I can support many solutions for local transport issues such as, traffic problems, road layouts, parking and improved accessibility to countryside rights of way.
I am committed to pursue the introduction and enforcement of suitable weight restrictions within the villages, measures that will ensure that lorries are required to use designated freight routes, preventing them from passing through village centres. The significant volume of heavy lorry traffic has led to heightened noise levels, accelerated road wear, and increased safety concerns for residents. This situation cannot continue and highlights the need to re-route freight vehicles to protect the well-being and stop the heart of these communities being torn apart.
I’m always happy to listen if anyone has a problem, offer advice on local issues like planning and licensing and help resolve issues by coordinating with Wiltshire Council. With many years of council experience, I know who to contact for help and can connect residents with the appropriate staff or department. You can contact me anytime at bill.parks@wiltshire.gov.uk or by calling 07712 490075.
