A WARMINSTER restaurant is adding a Thai spin to its menu as Christmas bookings gather pace.
The Old Bell, which hosts the Thai Chilli restaurant, is offering a range of Thai choices alongside its traditional Christmas fayre for both its eight-course Christmas Day dinner and its Christmas family and office parties.
“As the Old Bell has a Thai Restaurant, ‘The Thai Chilli’, we felt we could not miss out on the opportunity to offer our customers some alternative options alongside the traditional Christmas fayre,” said owner James Sullivan-Tailyour. “And it is proving increasingly popular with more than one in three of our guests on Christmas Day deciding on one of our Thai options.
“This Christmas Day we are offering an eight-course menu complete with starters, consommé, entrees, sorbet and desserts. As well as our traditional options such as Roast Turkey, Honey and Orange Duck Breast and Caramelised Pork, we are also offering a Spicy Seafood Delight and a Green Curry, together with a choice of vegetarian dishes.
“Our guests joining us will have a wonderful festive experience with the pub decorated to the hilt, roaring log fires, festive drinks and a relaxed atmosphere.
“If you’re looking for a group event leading up to Christmas, we have that too. You can either book your own party for four to 80 people either in our restaurant or in a private space, or if you want to just rock up and join in the Festive Fun why not join our ‘Ultimate Office Party’ on December 19th? Simply book for your team or friends (minimum two people), pay and turn up to enjoy a welcome festive drink, a festive finger buffet, full bar and disco and at £30 per person it’s a great simple option for a Christmas party!”
James said the interest in Thai dining is growing and Christmas is no exception. “While, of course, most Thais are Buddhist, they do love to celebrate anything and are very open to it,” he said. “Go to Thailand at Christmas and you will see Christmas decorations, trees and much more in hotels, restaurants, shopping centres and more.
“But they do draw the line when it comes to food and frankly who came blame them? It’s ‘high season’ in Thailand in December and with temperatures of up to 30 degrees, while it is not the hottest time of year, it is perhaps too hot for Turkey and all the trimmings, so they continue to enjoy their Thai food!
