The achievements of students at Kingdown School were recognised at their annual celebration evening last month.
The evening brought together students, families, staff and governors to celebrate hard work, perseverance and success across the school community.
Throughout the event, awards were presented to students who have demonstrated outstanding academic progress, commitment to learning, and a positive attitude both in and out of the classroom. Special recognition was also given to those who have shown resilience, determination and personal growth.
“The celebration evening was a reminder that achievement comes in many forms,” said Headteacher Helen Carpenter. “From academic success to personal milestones, each student recognised has worked tirelessly and should be immensely proud of what they have accomplished.”
“Kingdown School is extremely proud of all its students and remains grateful for the lasting impact made by staff who dedicate themselves so fully to the school.”
The school also welcomed former Kingdown student and guest speaker, Ehlana Godfrey, who shared her inspiring journey since leaving school. Ehlana now works as an SFX and laser technician, collaborating with famous artists and performing at festivals around the world.
At the event, the Captain Nick Scott Award for Service to the School was awarded posthumously to Ben Gunstone, who was the Assistant Headteacher at the school. The award was collected on his behalf by his wife and daughter.
“Ben worked for several years as a teacher and school’s community liaison, making an outstanding contribution to Kingdown School and its wider community. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and the award was a well-deserved recognition of his dedication and service,” said Helen.
