Two competitions have been launched encouraging adults and young people in Warminster to write short stories.
The competitions are organised by the Warminster Book Festival, which will return in 2027. There are two categories: young adults, for those aged 11 to 18, and adults, for those over 18.
Young adults are invited to write stories of up to 500 words with the title “Mirror.” Book token prizes will be awarded to the top three entries.
“This corresponds to the annual BBC format and gives students who enter the national competition a chance to submit the same or a modified entry to the Warminster Book Festival competition,” said Mark Thorpe from the festival.
“We plan for a young author to judge the entries, and we would like to see many diverse and creative pieces of work.”
The adult category will have the title “They walked through the woods and…” with a word limit of 1,000.
“Enter to be in with a chance of your name being on our cup or winning a cash prize,” said Mark.
To enter, email a PDF copy of your story to warminsterbookfestival@gmail.com by Friday 1st May.
Winners from both competitions will be announced at the Warminster Independent Market on Sunday 28th June.
