Support from the local community has enabled Warminster Toad Patrol to replace a sign that was stolen earlier in the year.
Donations from local people and funds raised at events such as the Toad Party have enabled the group to replace the sign, which was taken within 24 hours of being installed.
“Warminster Toad Patrol have extended their heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated towards replacing their sign on Smallbrook Road, which was sadly stolen at the very beginning of the season,” said Amy Darbyshire, co-chair of Sustainable Warminster.
“The new sign has helped continue raising awareness and encouraging drivers to take care in an area vital to local wildlife.”
The Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) from Gypsy Lane to Upper Marsh Road remains in place until Thursday 30th May, closing the road overnight to protect migrating toads as they make their way to breeding ponds. The TRO is supported by local police and Community Speed Watch, with potential fines for drivers breaching the closure.
