Warminster Library and Museum is celebrating the history of Warminster’s inns for Local History Month this May.
Historic photographs will be on display at the museum throughout the month.
On Thursday 14th May, from 2.30pm until 3.30pm, Warminster Museum’s Eric Peddle will host a talk on the old inns of Warminster. Entry costs £3 per person.
On Friday 22nd May from 2.30pm until 4pm, there will be a free online workshop on the British Newspaper Archive.
“Find out how to access millions of newspaper articles from the 18th century onwards using this digitised collection from the British Library,” said a library spokesperson.
The archive is free to use on library computers for Wiltshire Library members.
From 3pm until 3pm on Thursday 28th May, a new group, Memories on a Thursday, will start. The group is for those who would like to join in with lively and interesting discussions.
A spokesperson said, “At each session, there will be a different topic to discuss where you can remember how things were – who knows where the conversation will go! Come along, meet new people, get chatting. It’s good to talk.”
The sessions are free to attend and will take place on the second and fourth Thursday of the month.
To book a place on Eric’s talk or to find out more about the events, visit the library, email libraryenquiries@wiltshire.gov.uk or call 01985 216022.
