Warminster Journal invites a Wiltshire councillor to write about issues of their choosing.
Hello, I’m Cllr Andrew Davis and welcome to the first Councillor’s Corner.
Together with my fellow unitary councillors, I will give you an update about things that are going on in our town and at Wiltshire Council.
All being well, we should soon see the end of traffic disruption in Weymouth Street. For those of you who are unaware, this was caused by the construction of a very large holding tank that will help the drainage system. This tank will take some of the pressure away from the treatment plant, in times when the water from severe weather events causes flooding in certain areas of the town.
Currently, the town is decked in flags, in celebration of our popular street fair, and hopefully they will remain throughout the summer. The hanging baskets and floral displays make Warminster a pleasant place to shop. It is also encouraging to see new businesses coming to Warminster.
Wiltshire Council is now controlled by the Liberal Democrats and as no political party has the majority, many important decisions will be made by coalition.
Finally, in my role as a unitary councillor, I have been appointed to the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Authority, as one of the six representatives for Wiltshire. Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns regarding Warminster East, and be assured that I will do my utmost to help in any way that I can.
