Warminster is set to be transformed into ‘Roarminster’ this month as a dinosaur-themed takeover brings a town-wide trail, events programme and family activities for the school holidays.
A trail of five dinosaur models will be installed from Saturday 11th July until Saturday 5th September, with Roarminster officially launching at Warminster YouthFest on Saturday 11th July at the Lake Pleasure Grounds from 10am until 2pm.
Visitors and residents will be encouraged to explore the town, find and learn about the different dinosaurs, enter a prize draw and take part in activities throughout the summer holidays.
Additional activities include a dinosaur exhibition and film screening at the Warminster Athenaeum, a dinosaur lecture and book signing from Professor Mike Benton at Warminster Civic Centre on Saturday 25th July, and a paleoart workshop for all ages, led by BBC paleoartist Jay Balamurugan.

Mayor Jack Jones said, “We remain committed to trying new methods to show off our vibrant town. Roarminster will increase footfall, support local businesses and create a fun, family-friendly attraction.
“The town continues to invest and organise vibrant activities for our residents which also encourages visitors to our town. We’re incredibly excited to be hosting these ‘roarsome’ dinosaurs during the summer holidays. The event is about creating something fun, memorable and family-friendly for Warminster.”
The town will be decorated for the arrivals, with themed shop windows, photo opportunities, and a selection of dinosaur books available to borrow at Warminster Library.
Warminster Community Radio will have a Roarminster focus, including a competition to send in the best recording of a child roaring like a dinosaur.
The Malto Lounge will be serving a special dinosaur-inspired cocktail during the event.
