New electric vehicle charging facilities could be built in Morrisons car park after plans were submitted to Wiltshire Council.
The application by Motor Fuel Group (MFG) proposes installing three electric vehicle charging points and six electric vehicle bays at Morrisons on Weymouth Street.
It also proposes three jet wash bays, air, water and vacuum units, a substation enclosure, LV panel, meter cabinet and a plant room.
In the applicant’s planning statement, the proposals are described as having been designed to integrate with the existing site and provide a “modern design approach, which is uncluttered and fit for purpose”.
It adds that the development would support the growing demand for electric vehicle charging infrastructure and “enhance the existing offer at the site, without compromising the efficient operation of the facility”.
The statement also says the proposals would not have an adverse impact on neighbouring properties and that the area would be well lit, with no concerns raised regarding antisocial behaviour or natural surveillance.
The planning application was submitted last month and is currently awaiting a decision from Wiltshire Council.
