Thousands of people flocked to Warminster for the town’s biggest-ever Christmas Market and lights switch-on, featuring over 150 stalls and live entertainment
Crowds gathered throughout the day on Saturday 29th November to enjoy the market, live performances and a range of food and drink at the event organised by Warminster Town Council and Warminster Business Network.
The market opened at 10am with 150 pitches across the High Street, Market Place, Weymouth Street and Warminster Civic Centre.
A stage at the top of the Market Place showcased live performances from singer Jane Bennett, Seren, The Full Motley, Brakelight and James Hudson, who performed a selection of Michael Bublé songs.
The Mayor’s Charity Christmas Raffle took place inside the Civic Centre and featured prizes generously donated by local businesses, raising £700 for Mind Warminster and Open Door Warminster.
Shops throughout the town remained open to welcome visitors throughout the day.
At 5.30pm, the countdown ended and the town’s Christmas lights were switched on.
A spokesperson from Warminster Town Council said, “Another truly brilliant day for Warminster, the biggest ever, with thousands of people attending this event supporting local businesses and traders.
“We thank the whole community for coming out and supporting this event. Warminster is thriving and we are delighted to host this brilliant event for all.
“Organising the event is a huge task but makes an incredible day for the benefit of Warminster. It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying our town as well as our established and new local businesses.
“Thank you so much Warminster, to the market traders, musicians and artists who made it such a special day.”
