Town went into today’s game with seven first team players unavailable but United were by far the better team on the day .
The hosts raced into a 4-0 lead in the first 32 minutes. With just four minutes played a chip from the left of the box put United 1-0 up. On 20 minutes Town’s keeper Jack Amor saved well but the rebound was fired in, 2-0. Two minutes later it was 3-0 with a header from a left side cross. And on 32 minutes another header this time from a right side cross made it 4-0.
Town then created a couple of good chances. Jake Wright’s shot from the edge of the box was well saved and Toby Worts free kick was blocked by the wall. In first half stoppage time Ben Harris found himself in space on the right side of the box but his shot cleared the crossbar.
The second half didn’t start well with the hosts going 5-0 up in the 47th minute with a back post tap on. On 56 minutes it was 6-0 when a pass from the right was turned in. Seven minutes later a close range shot made it 7-0. On 73 minutes a Jack Newman flick on was parried by the United keeper. Tyler Gane fired in loose ball for a Town consolation goal, 7-1.
With three minutes remaining another United shot from the right was parried by Town keeper Jack Amor and tapped in at back post to make the final score 8-1 to United.
