Carnival royalty crowned at family fun day

Live music, dancing and competitions featured at Warminster’s annual Carnival Family Fun Day as preparations continue for the town’s main carnival.

The event on Sunday 13th September took place at the Lake Pleasure Grounds and was officially opened by the Mayor of Warminster, Cllr Jack Jones.

Performances throughout the afternoon included displays by Encore Twirlers and line dancing from The Wild Ones. Live music was provided by Izzy Wheeler, Jess Ryall and the Warminster Community Choir. The Masqueraders Theatre Group also performed a medley to promote its upcoming production of Jekyll & Hyde, which will run during carnival week.

Visitors took part in a dog show with five classes, alongside baby and royalty competitions judged by Wessex Circuit President Dave Bowan and Rebecca Wheeler of Mandy’s Carnival Club. Pete Davidson from Warminster Community Radio compered the afternoon.

Florence Bradley was named the 2026 Princess and will be attended by Lily Fryer on carnival day.

In the baby competition, Maeva Fitzsimons won the birth to one year category, with Demi Pringle as runner-up. Margot Lumly won the 13-month to two years category, followed by Olive Shearn as runner-up.

Warminster Carnival will take place on Saturday 31st October at 6.45pm, departing from Boreham Road.

A spokesperson for the carnival committee said, “We are grateful to all of the stallholders for their support this year. Please support us. We hope to keep carnival alive in Warminster for many years.”
