Donations from local people have been used to purchase a new set of therapy stairs for Warminster Community Hospital.
The Friends of Warminster Hospital (FOWH), a charity which launched in 1962 to support local healthcare services, used donations to purchase the stairs for the physiotherapy team. The stairs will be used to help patients recover from surgery, falls and strokes.
“They might look simple, but they make a real difference,” said FOWH chair Richard Curtis. “Practising steps in a safe, supported setting is often the last hurdle before someone can go home – and it’s the moment confidence comes back.”
FOWH relies heavily on donations to operate. The charity aims to improve the welfare of patients and staff at the hospital, supplement and improve the services provided to hospital outpatients and maximise local treatment provision. It also assists local NHS surgeries in providing the best care and supports those involved in community care by providing equipment to enhance care at home for local people.
“Everything we fund comes from the generosity of local people,” said Richard. “Every donation stays local and goes straight towards patient care.”
