Warminster Town Football Club received a major boost last week as the town council agreed a £15,000 grant towards replacing the deteriorating pitch-side barrier at the club’s Weymouth Street ground.
The contribution means the project is now fully funded, following an earlier grant from the Premier League Stadium Fund.
“This is a fantastic moment for the club,” said club chairman James Stone. “This new barrier is a vital part of our long-term facility improvement programme and will significantly enhance safety, accessibility and the overall matchday experience at Weymouth Street.
“Securing full funding for the pitch barrier has taken months of dedication, countless conversations and real collaboration across our community. I am incredibly grateful to Warminster Town Council for their support, and to everyone behind the scenes who has helped make this possible.
“This project is another clear sign of the positive direction our club is moving in. We are not just investing in facilities for today – we’re laying foundations that will benefit future generations of players, volunteers, and supporters. As we continue to develop our ground and strengthen our community presence, moments like this remind us of what can be achieved when we all pull together.
“Thank you to everyone who continues to back the club. There is much more to come.”
Warminster Town Council agreed the £15,000 contribution from its Community Infrastructure Levy pot, completing the matched funding needed to release up to £35,000 from the Premier League Stadium Fund. The support means the barrier replacement can now proceed in full.
The existing metal and concrete structure is in poor condition and will be removed in favour of a modern system built to current Football Association standards.
Councillors approved the grant at a full council meeting on 24th November. The authority said investment in sports facilities helps maintain a well-used community asset and supports opportunities for residents, particularly young people.
