Fire crew training helps protect football pitch

Firefighters carrying out a training exercise at Warminster Town FC helped keep the club’s pitch in good condition during recent hot and dry weather.

The team from Warminster Fire Station visited the Weymouth Street ground to practise a range of skills, including branch techniques involving water flow and spray patterns, alongside pumping drills focused on water supply, pressure management and coordination.

As part of the training, around 7,200 litres of water were applied to the playing surface, which had become parched following the recent heatwave.

The club described the visit as “a brilliant example of community partnership”.

A spokesperson said, “With the recent hot weather and the pitch becoming extremely dry, their visit was very much appreciated. It was great to welcome them to Weymouth Street and see their training in action, while also supporting a local community facility at the same time.”
