A new satellite outpatient clinic has opened at Warminster Community Hospital, bringing specialist orthopaedic consultations closer to patients in the local community.
The new clinic, run by Sulis Hospital, offers consultations across orthopaedic care for adults, including hip and knee clinics for NHS patients.
It gives patients the opportunity to see experienced orthopaedic consultants without needing to travel to Sulis Hospital in Bath.
Consultations will provide assessments, with any pre-operative tests and surgery taking place at the Bath hospital.
Patients can ask their GP to refer them to the Sulis Hospital Clinic at Warminster Community Hospital, where appropriate for their condition and needs.
For one recent patient, the location made accessing specialist care much easier. Living in Trowbridge and working in Westbury, they said, “I had an appointment within three weeks at the satellite clinic. It was ever so convenient. I knew exactly where it was and I know the area. It made the whole experience feel more relaxed.”
Sulis Hospital director Simon Milner said, “We know that travelling for specialist appointments can often be a source of stress and anxiety, particularly for patients suffering from chronic hip or knee pain.
“By bringing our expert orthopaedic consultants into the heart of the Warminster community, we are removing that geographical barrier and making care more accessible to local patients.”
The clinic is available to patients accessing Sulis Hospital through the NHS e-Referral Service (eRS), allowing patients to request their initial consultation at Warminster Community Hospital.
Patients who are unsure whether their appointment can take place at Warminster Community Hospital can contact the Sulis Hospital team for guidance. Call Sulis Hospital on 01761 422 222.
