The Lake Pleasure Grounds has been described as ‘vital’ for families amid the cost of living crisis as it retains its Green Flag Award for 2025.
Judges praised aspects of the park such as CCTV coverage, clean toilets, PCSO patrols by Wiltshire Police, ample signage and neat grass
Other factors highlighted included sleeper beds at the entrance to the Elizabeth Collyns Garden, an accessible picnic bench available next to the café and items of play equipment suitable for those with disabilities.
Adrian Rogers, parks and open spaces manager at Warminster Town Council, said, “We are delighted that the Lake Pleasure Grounds has once again been recognised with the prestigious Green Flag Award status.
“We think it is one of the best parks in Wiltshire and really do believe it offers something for everyone – there is no other park quite like it.”
The Green Flag Award scheme was launched in 1997 and is managed by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.
Green Flag Award scheme manager, Paul Todd MBE, said, “The Lake Pleasure Grounds is a vital green space for communities in Warminster to enjoy nature, and during the ongoing cost of living crisis it is a free and safe space for families to socialise.
“It also provides important opportunities for local people and visitors to reap the physical and mental health benefits of green space.”
