Volunteers from St John Ambulance visited Year 5 and 6 pupils at a local primary school to raise awareness of emergency first aid.
Kat Brawn and Tim Watts visited New Close Primary School to talk to the children about how to save a life as part of Wiltshire Police’s Mini Police programme.
The pupils had a go at practising CPR and were also educated on the use of a defibrillator, how to treat severe bleeding and choking, and how to assess a casualty and call for help.
“It was great to have St John Ambulance visit our mini police unit to teach them some lifesaving skills,” said PCSO Melissa Culliford. “The group thoroughly enjoyed an interactive session and were a shining example of the values we promote at Mini Police.”
The main aim of the Mini Police programme is to increase trust and confidence among young people, their families and their communities, and to help students develop skills and self-esteem.
