A man has raised more than £2,000 running the London Marathon for a Warminster charity which has supported his mum since her multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis.
Hugo Campbell-Smith raised over £2,000 for the Warminster-based Wessex MS Therapy Centre, which his mum Sophie is a member of.
“At the start of last year my mother was diagnosed with MS,” said Hugo. “Whilst this was shocking news and there was a lot of uncertainty, she has remained impressively positive in the face of a very scary diagnosis thanks to the support of two amazing charities – the Wessex MS Centre in Warminster and Overcoming MS.”
MS is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. There is currently no cure. The centre provides a range of physical, emotional and social therapies to help manage symptoms, promote independence and enhance overall wellbeing.
Amanda Strong, fundraising and events coordinator, said, “We are delighted that Hugo chose us as one of his two chosen MS charities. He raised a fabulous amount of money for our centre in Warminster, which will go towards subsidising our therapies for members with MS.”
