Double yellow lines are set to be installed on Weymouth Street in a move aimed at easing congestion and improving access in and out of the town centre.
The work is expected to be completed in around two months’ time, having been approved by Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Highways, Streetscene and Flooding, Cllr Martin Smith.
“It is recognised the decision won’t please everyone with the loss of free parking balanced against the problems of congestion caused by high usage and poor parking,” said a spokesperson from the Warminster Town Council, which previously endorsed double yellow lines on one side of Weymouth Street following discussions at the Highways Advisory Committee in September 2025.
“It is expected that the parking restrictions will improve access to and from the town centre via Weymouth Street as well as making the roads easier and safer for residents and visitors.”
