Manager Rob Nash was forced into making two changes ahead of today’s game. Birthday boy Jordan Pinder and Corey Gardner were both suspended having picked up five yellow cards.
Henry McFerran replaced Jordan in defence and Tyson Pollard replaced Corey on the wing.
Last week Town started slowly, this afternoon they came flying out of the blocks. In the fifth minute they were awarded a free kick wide left. Seb Hounsell delivered the ball into the danger area and Ryan Benson headed in, 1-0.
Two minutes later Reece Collyer’s shot from distance flew just over the bar. On 12 minutes Jack Newman received the ball in space on the right of the penalty area but he fired wide of the far post. Then in the 19th minute Jack Newman found himself in space again in the box but opted to pass to Charlie Walton whose shot was blocked by the Cheddar keeper Taylon Ross-Greek.
Five minutes later Town doubled their lead. They were awarded a free kick just outside the penalty area and Seb Hounsell fired up and over the wall past the static Ross-Greek, 2-0.
In the 27th minute Town’s Charlie Walton was forced off with an injury to be replaced by Max Whittaker who went to left back. Seb Hounsell moved to right wing and Jack Newman replaced Charlie at centre forward. On 37 minutes a Cheddar defensive mistake left Seb Hounsell with just the keeper to beat but unselfishly he rolled the ball sideways to Jack Newman who side footed the ball into the empty net, 3-0.
Eight minutes after the break a great through ball from Reece Collyer sent Tyson Pollard clear and he coolly slotted the ball past Ross-Greek, 4-0.
Just five minutes later Tyson Pollard’s shot from the edge of the six-yard box was superbly blocked on the line but unluckily struck another defender and rebounded back into the goal, 5-0.
Tyler Gane was then brought on for Seb Hounsell. In the 61st minute Tyson Pollard spotted the Cheddar keeper off his line and lobbed him from fully 30 yards, 6-0.
68 minutes and the visitors suffered another blow when keeper Ross-Greek was forced to limp off injured and was replaced by an outfield player. With the game won manager Rob Nash brought on Jack Duck for Tyson Pollard. In the 76th minute Cheddar’s stand-in keeper came to the edge of area to try to intercept the ball but lost it to Jack Newman who fired in, 7-0.
Seven minutes later substitute Jack Duck’s cross from the left was fumbled by the keeper and the ball struck the post and out of play for a corner. Then in the second minute of stoppage time George Walker-Haynes sent Jack Duck clear and he made no mistake, 8-0. Referee Karl Stephens blew for time.
An excellent performance from the Red & Blacks who move one place up the table with a much-improved goal difference.
