The Wessex MS Charity Shop, based in the Three Horseshoes Walk, proudly holds the title of being Warminster’s only independent charity shop.
Run entirely by a dedicated team of around 18 volunteers, the shop is open six days a week and offers something for everyone, from clothing for men, women and children, to toys, records, electrical goods, shoes, and an ever-changing selection of bric-a-brac.
The shop is also home to a wonderful community of loyal customers who love to pop in for a browse and a friendly chat. Many even bring their four-legged friends along, knowing there’s always a dog treat waiting behind the till. Once a week, shoppers are greeted by Stanley, the shop’s much-loved four-legged volunteer, who is always ready to welcome customers at the door with a wagging tail.
With a focus on affordability, the shop prides itself on keeping prices low, ensuring there is always a bargain to be found while supporting a local cause. The sign behind the till says, “The Wessex MS Therapy Centre Shop is an independent charity shop and run entirely by volunteers. Every penny raised in this shop goes to the charity, helping people with MS live a better quality of life.”
Every item sold in the shop helps raise funds for the Wessex MS Therapy Centre, a local self-funded charity, located at The Avenue, providing practical and emotional support for people living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and other neurological conditions.
At the centre, members have access to therapies such as physiotherapy, oxygen therapy, counselling, and wellbeing activities designed to improve quality of life and help people manage the challenges of living with MS.
Portia Williams, Volunteer Coordinator says, “Our volunteers are the heart of the shop. Without their time, energy and commitment, we simply couldn’t run it. Every purchase made here not only supports our charity but also helps keep this unique independent shop thriving in Warminster.”
The Wessex MS Charity Shop is always looking for donations of quality items and welcomes anyone interested in volunteering to join its friendly team.
