Have you ever dreamed of taking to the skies, only to dismiss it as something out of reach? The Bath, Wilts and North Dorset Gliding Club is offering the chance to turn that dream into reality at its upcoming Open Day on Saturday, 1st June.
Based at Kingston Deverill, the club invites you to discover the joys of gliding – a graceful, silent form of flight that offers a truly unique way to see the world.
“Come and learn how to fly with us and find out how easy it is to become a pilot yourself, and learn about the amazing things gliders can do,” said a club spokesperson. “From the air, discover the beautiful countryside around us in an affordable and stimulating way.

“All this is available at your local gliding club. There is always something new to learn and friends to make. A gliding club is full of friendly and supportive people, helping each other into the one thing they all love – gliding.
“Come and join us on 1st June for our Open Day at Kingston Deverill (BA12 7HF). Have a flight, inspect the aircraft and talk to the members. Discover the opportunities gliding offers including flying, helping to run the airfield, maintaining the aircraft and even eventually becoming an instructor. Our members will be on hand to explain and answer questions and to talk to you about the club and the training procedures.
“We will also have plenty of teas, coffee and food available. Just come along and meet us – we are a friendly group. To find out more go to www.bwnd.co.uk.”
