Local groups are providing support for the community throughout the festive period.
Here is a round-up of some of the support being offered:
Warminster’s Community Christmas Lunch
A community Christmas lunch will take place on Christmas Day from 12pm to 2pm at Warminster Park Community Centre.
“Organised once again by Christ Church and supported by charities from across the town, the meal is run entirely by local volunteers who give their time to create a festive, family-style celebration,” said Revd Lorraine Dobbins. “Last year, around 70 people came together at Warminster Park Hall to enjoy a full Christmas dinner, conversation, and plenty of light and laughter.”
“The team is hoping to welcome just as many guests this year, because no one in our community should feel they have to face Christmas on their own. “
“If you, or someone you know, would appreciate company, a traditional Christmas roast, and a joyful atmosphere on Christmas Day, the doors at Warminster Park Hall will be open.”
The meal is free, but donations will be accepted. Booking is essential. To book a place, call Craig on 07448 147041.
Warminster Foodbank
Warminster Foodbank will be open from 9am until 12.30pm on Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th December.
It will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and open again from 9am until 12.30pm on Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 31st December.
The food bank will be closed again on Thursday 1st December, and then normal opening times will resume.
Warminster Library
Warminster Library is open as a designated ‘warm space’ this winter.
Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Libraries, Cllr Mel Jacob, said, “Wiltshire libraries are friendly, welcoming places for everyone and during colder months they can make a real difference for people looking for warmth, connection and practical support.
“Whether you’re coming in for a chat, a book, or to find out more about local help available, our libraries are here for you.”
Anyone struggling to stay warm this winter can also speak to staff at their local library, who can help signpost to support and advice from trusted organisations.
The library will close at 12.30pm on Wednesday 24th December. It will remain closed for Thursday 25th and Friday 26th December, as well as Thursday 1st December.
