A community event to raise awareness of Warminster’s migrating toads will take place this weekend.
The Warminster Toad Patrol’s Toad Party will be held on Saturday 28th February from 2pm until 4pm at Warminster Park Community Centre.
The event aims to raise awareness about the amphibians that migrate across Smallbrook Road each year. The gathering will combine education with family-friendly activities designed to engage the public in wildlife conservation.
“Visitors will have the opportunity to see live amphibians up close, alongside a variety of attractions including children’s crafts, homemade cakes and stalls from nature-inspired sellers,” said organisers. “We hope the event will offer a fun and accessible way for people of all ages to learn more about local wildlife and biodiversity.”
“The event also highlights the seasonal protection measures in place for migrating toads. A Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) has been implemented on the section of Smallbrook Road where the amphibians cross, temporarily restricting the road to access-only traffic during peak migration hours.
“While many drivers are complying with the restrictions, continued public awareness remains vital to ensure the safety of the animals.”
The event is free and open to all.
