Warminster Lions Club began its new ‘Lionistic’ year by recognising two longstanding members at the group’s first meeting.
Kenneth Lang received an award for 10 years of service to Warminster Lions, and has also taken on a new role this year heading up the events and fundraising team. Sandra Major was presented with an award for 15 years of service as a Lion.
The meeting was also attended by a special guest – the new District Governor, Dianne Hopkins – who was presented with a club banner by Warminster’s Lion President, Ros Harrison, to mark her first visit.
The club, which is part of a network of more than 50 clubs in the district, voted to grant £4,000 to five beneficiaries that will meet local needs in the town. An update was also given on plans for a free prostate cancer testing day, due to be held in Warminster this autumn.
