Warminster Lions Club recently made a donation to Wiltshire’s only children’s hospice to help provide support to families.
The Lions donated £750 to children’s hospice Julia’s House at their open day. The money will go towards supporting several Family Support Service events for Wiltshire families before the end of the year.
The Family Support Service provides regular events throughout the year for parents who rarely have the opportunity to socialise. They offer parents a chance to meet families in similar situations, develop friendships and feel less isolated.
“Warminster Lions Club’s charity donations to local good causes are mainly enabled by profits from our second-hand bookshop in George Street, and more recently by a generous legacy,” said Nick from the Warminster Lions Club.
The hospice, based in Devizes, cares for 60 families across Wiltshire who have a child or children with life-limiting conditions. It currently needs to raise £2.5 million each year to operate.
