A film produced by a student from Warminster and filmed in the town has premiered at the Athenaeum.
The film, The Lovely Couple, was produced by Warminster man Morgan Hames, who is currently studying Filmmaking Production at Bristol Film School.
It was shown for the first time at an exclusive screening to over 80 people at the Athenaeum on Saturday evening, 7th February.
Morgan said he is “incredibly nervous” but also “incredibly excited” for the film to be out in the world.
The film tells the story of a woman who murdered her husband in a fleeting moment following years of psychological and physical abuse. The whole story takes place over the span of 30 years within a single home.
“One of my theatre friends, Claire Warren, approached me with a script that she’d written and asked me to help develop it into a film,” said Morgan. “I jumped at the opportunity.”
“We asked many of our theatre friends to help, whether that was to be on camera or lending a hand behind the scenes. They were mainly Warminster and Frome based.
“We were very fortunate as a lot of our friends showed interest, building a cast of seven leads with at least 15 extras.
“Another theatre friend of ours, Kerren, offered to lend us some equipment of hers. Kerren works in television and owns high-tech cameras, lights and audio equipment—much better than an iPhone!
“I can’t thank her enough for her generosity and help with the production.”
Production for the film began in March 2025, with filming taking place between July and November.
Money raised from the premiere will be donated to Fear Free, the South West’s leading charity for domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking.
“I hope the film raises the awareness it can, and I hope people donate to an extremely valuable cause,” said Morgan.
The film will be available to watch on Youtube soon.
