A Warminster woman has completed her 21st London Marathon, overcoming leg cramps and hot weather to cross the finish line with a smile.
Diane Hier was one of an all-female group of competitors from Avon Valley Runners who trained for months to take on the 26.2-mile distance.
She said, “A total of 56,640 runners crossed the finish line at the London Marathon, and I was one of them.
“Hot conditions and very bad leg cramps from mile 16 made this race the most challenging of all my 21 London Marathons.
“But with the amazing atmosphere and support from the crowds, it was still an exciting event to be part of, and I finished with a smile on my face.
“I feel very privileged to be part of this wonderful charity event, and I’m grateful to have secured a Good For Age entry for 2026 from my result this year of 4 hours and 32 seconds.”
Diane currently holds the Avon Valley Runners’ club FV60 marathon record of 3:35:27, which she set in London in 2023.
