Warminster came together for the first independent market of the year, with more than 130 pitches featuring a variety of stalls, food and entertainment.
The Spring Independent Market took place along the High Street, Market Square, and Civic Centre on Sunday 23rd March. The family-friendly event was hosted by the Warminster Business Network and Warminster Town Council.
The Mayor of Warminster, Cllr Stacie Allensby, said, “Thanks to the whole Warminster community for supporting this incredible market. The entire day shone a light on our amazing town, local businesses, and stallholders – there were so many positive aspects to this well-attended event.
“We can’t wait to see residents support Spring in the Park 2025 on Sunday 4th May – set to be another huge event for the town.”
Meanwhile, Ian Frostick, chair of the Feoffees and Trustees at St Lawrence Chapel, said the Independent Spring Market provided a ‘fantastic opportunity’ for residents and visitors to Warminster to tour the historic 13th-century chapel while exploring the town centre.
Ian said, “The chapel has provided Warminster with its main clock and chiming bells since the 1630s. £28,000 of repairs and upgrades are currently underway to the 1764 Warminster-made clock. This work has been supported by a wide range of local grants and donations.
“The town’s main 1657 bell is always a great favourite, and everyone on Sunday had the opportunity to ring it. It was made at the John Lott Bell Foundry in the Close, just behind what is now the Athenaeum Theatre. The Feoffees and Trustees would like to welcome visitors back for the Summer Market to see the clock and chiming bells back in full operation. We would also like to thank everyone for their generous donations to help support the chapel repairs and upgrades.”
Additional independent markets will be held in Warminster on Sunday 29th June and Sunday 31st August, with a Christmas event scheduled for Saturday 29th November.
