Warminster embraces greener fashion at swap event

Local people have updated their wardrobes with Sustainable Warminster’s ‘Sustainable Style Swap and Shop’ event at The Wellbeing Hub.

Over 80 visitors exchanged and purchased pre-loved clothing, shared mending tips and embraced sustainable approaches to fashion.

The event, organised by Jennie Gilling, Rebecca Krzyzosiak and Amy Darbyshire, featured vintage fashion from Indigo Vintage, mending demonstrations, and community banners created from fabrics donated by the community.

Also on display was the Popicoq Denim Dress, crafted from approximately 37 pairs of unwanted jeans.

Amy Darbyshire, co-chair of Sustainable Warminster, said, “Fashion doesn’t have to cost the earth – literally. Events like this show that style and sustainability can go hand in hand.”

Rebecca Krzyzosiak, co-chair of the group, added, “By shifting our mindset, we can reduce our carbon footprint, support local economies and foster a more sustainable future for fashion.”

Jennie Gilling, Sustainable Warminster’s events officer, said, “The message is simple: buy fewer, but buy better.”

Amy, Rebecca and Jennie extend their gratitude to those who donated unwanted textiles and to Warminster Library, which provided a venue for donations.

Sustainable Warminster has plans for Sustainable Fashion Week, scheduled from 27th September to 5th October.
