Members of a local residents group met with people in the town centre on Saturday 7th March to gather opinions on future development in Warminster.
The East Boreham Business and Residents Action Group (EBBRAG) spoke with residents to gather views on the Draft Warminster Neighbourhood Plan 2, which is currently open for public consultation by Warminster Town Council.
A wide range of residents from across the community, including people of all ages, stopped to discuss the proposals and share their opinions with the group.
“Public engagement was significant throughout the day, with many residents expressing concerns about the number of new houses proposed up to 2038, the lack of supporting infrastructure, the potential increase in traffic, pressure on school places, additional wastewater impacts on the River Wylye, and the effect on already struggling health and emergency services,” said a spokesperson from EBBRAG.
EBBRAG continues to campaign against plans for new homes at Home Farm, on Warminster’s eastern edge. The draft Neighbourhood Plan proposes 90 homes at Home Farm and two at the Old Yew Tree pub site.
“Feedback also indicated strong concern regarding the inclusion of additional development within draft NP2,” the spokesperson said. “The majority of participants expressed opposition and chose to sign more than 200 letters formally objecting to this aspect of the plan.”
Members of EBBRAG said the high level of participation in the town-centre consultation reflects the importance of these issues to local residents and the community’s desire to have their views considered during the planning process.
