A walking rugby group in Warminster is welcoming more people to join as it looks to establish a full team.
The group currently meets at Warminster Rugby Football Club on Saturdays from 2pm to 3pm. The sessions are open to men and women.
“Walking rugby is a slower-paced, non-contact version of the game, where running is replaced with walking and tackles are replaced with two-handed touch,” said player Mark Huntley. “It is designed to be accessible, inclusive, and suitable for all abilities – including those returning to activity after a long break.
“It’s very relaxed – there’s no pressure and no experience needed. You don’t need to have played rugby before, you might not have picked up a ball since 1977, or you might still be playing. It’s a chance to get out, have a bit of a walk, and enjoy some good company.
“You get a bit of fresh air, but it’s about having a laugh and meeting people whilst enjoying proper rugby. You always leave feeling better than when you arrived.”
There is no cost to start, but if people would like to continue playing and join the team, they will be asked to become members of the rugby club to help cover costs.
