A woman in her 40s has died following an incident on the railway in Warminster, police have confirmed.
Officers from British Transport Police were called to Warminster railway station shortly after 9.30pm on Thursday 23rd July following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Wiltshire Police also attended the incident in the Portway area.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said, “Officers attended along with paramedics but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Wiltshire Police later confirmed the woman was in her 40s.
A spokesperson said, “Her next of kin are aware and our thoughts are with them.
“The incident is now being led by the British Transport Police.”
Wiltshire Police have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to prior contact with the woman.
