Residents can now pick up free seeds from a new initiative at Warminster Library.
Visitors can take up to two packets of seeds per household to plant in their garden from the new seed library, with contributions donated by local gardeners and companies.
“Everyone is welcome to take seeds to grow at home and is asked to donate any spare, saved, or unwanted seeds to help the collection grow,” said a spokesperson from Warminster Town Council, which is supporting the project.
“Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just getting started, it’s a great way to share, find a new hobby and support local biodiversity.”
People can donate vegetable, flower, legume, herb and grass seeds. Unopened or partially used commercial seed packets are also welcome, as well as any seeds saved from people’s gardens, provided they are clearly labelled. Treated seeds or anything invasive or toxic should not be donated.
Donations can be dropped off at the library or at Warminster Civic Centre.
