Travel company launches 2027 brochure with new range of trips

A local travel company has unveiled its 2027 brochure, promising a wide variety of trips across the UK.

The family-run  Lesmon Travel from Frome, which was started over 40 years ago by Les and Mon Price, is now run by their daughter Brigitte, who is continuing her parents’ tradition of personal, friendly service.

Brigitte says the 2027 programme has been designed with relaxation in mind. “All of the tours are UK-based, with as little travel time as possible from the hotel, so passengers can spend more time enjoying their holiday,” she explains.

Among the highlights are return visits to ABBA Voyage following last year’s sold-out tours and a short break in central London, so people can choose which attractions and shows they want to see.

There are also a couple of longer six-night tours to Derwentwater in the Lake District and Strathpeffer in Scotland, based on the hit TV show The Traitors.

The brochure also includes a five-night tour to Jersey, which requires only photo ID rather than a passport, making it an accessible option for all.

All tours are conducted on a luxury air-conditioned coach provided by another family business, AL Executive, complete with drinks machine and toilet facilities.

Brigitte said, “We are so pleased that Will is carrying on driving again next year, as he is such an excellent driver and so helpful to the passengers.

“Being a local company, he knows his way around the local area and with his 35 years of experience, he is always coming up with different places to stop en route to surprise the passengers.”

Lesmon Travel offers door-to-door service across Warminster, Westbury and Frome with pickups to nearby villages either by minibus or directly onto the coach, whichever is most suitable. Those outside the catchment area can park at their Fairfield Close base in Frome, space permitting.

Brigitte herself travels on all trips as courier, ensuring everything runs smoothly and serving hot drinks along the way.

She added, “I want to say a huge thank you to my daughter Harley for all her help this past year. I wouldn’t be able to do it without her and to my dad, Les, who still likes to help with pickups. Thanks also to all our loyal customers whose continuing support makes the job so worthwhile.”

A new website has been launched at www.lesmontravel.co.uk, with details of all the trips and you can call Brigitte on 07779 442024 for more information on any of the tours or to get your copy of the new brochure, which is also available in Frome Library or The Athenaeum in Warminster.

  • Cycling challenge raises £4,000 for motor neurone disease charity

Hundreds of cyclists have raised £4,000 for motor neurone disease research and support by taking part in a charity ride from Longleat.

The Lionheart Sportive returned on Sunday 11th October after a decade away, with 300 cyclists choosing between 100-mile and 100-kilometre routes through the hilly Wiltshire and Somerset countryside. The event was organised by Frome cycling shop Pronto Bikes.

This year’s ride raised money for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, which funds research into motor neurone disease (MND) and supports people affected by the condition. MND is a rare, progressive disease that damages nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.

  • Breast screening campaigners submit formal complaint

Campaigners have submitted a formal complaint over the decision to remove the town’s breast screening unit and the way its relocation was handled.

David Reeves, of Warminster Health and Wellbeing, submitted the complaint to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman. He has been supporting a campaign led by deputy mayor Cllr Liz Lee for more than a year to secure the unit’s return.

The complaint raises four concerns, including an alleged failure to consult the local community, a lack of access to data used to justify moving the service to Westbury, and the classification of facilities such as running water and clinical waste disposal as essential rather than desirable requirements.

This is another one of the many great pictures that we have in the museum. The sun is high, the direction of the shadows suggests about 11am, and it really is all going on. • Local artist finds inspiration at Warminster Town FC

A Warminster resident has been combining her passions for football and drawing by capturing the action through sketching at local matches. The resident has been attending matches at Warminster Town Football Club, to practice her sketching skills while supporting the local club.
“I decided to go along because you don’t get too much of a chance to draw, particularly people,” she said. “I have been drawing and sketching for about 30 years and this gives me an opportunity to have a go at some live sketching and really having to think fast, watch fast and observe fast.”
Unlike drawing a person who is sitting still, sketching footballers means trying to capture their movements and positions before they change. She said, “You don’t get the same picture as somebody who’s moving and you’re noticing positions and everything like that.
