Warminster is all set to celebrate the joy of books and creative writing this weekend, as the town’s free Book Festival returns on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June.
Over 20 authors from a wide range of genres will descend on the town to take part in talks, workshops, with activities for all ages.
“Saturday will be a chance to visit the four main venues for authors talking about their work and experiences, which include the library, the Masonic Hall, St Lawrence Chapel, and the Wellbeing Hub,” say organisers.
A book-themed town trail has been organised by The Old Bell and the Warminster Business Network to mark this year’s festival, as local people gear up for the weekend. Forms are currently available from The Old Bell.
Longleat have donated a prize for the festival and all those attending will be offered the chance to win. “All will be revealed in due course,” they said.
Meanwhile, guest judges AA Abbott and LK Chapman will announce the winners of the adult and young adult writing competitions at 4pm on Sunday 8th at the Civic Centre. Winners of the town trail will be announced at The Old Bell between 5pm and 6pm.
There are also still spaces available to join a wide variety of workshops on Sunday 8th at the Warminster Civic Centre. These include creative activities for younger children, a drama workshop run by Codford Woolstore Theatre, and a talk on bookbinding.
