Bulldogs and their owners came together recently for a special afternoon at the White Hart in Corsley, near Warminster.
Pub landlords Adelle Gill and Steve Ellis, who have their own bulldogs Winnie and Woody, have hosted bulldog meet-ups for six years.
At the most recent meet up on Saturday 26th April, the sun shone as dogs – many of them rescues – played in paddling pools in the pub’s beer garden.
Adelle said, “We had a fantastic turnout for Saturday’s Bulldog Meet-Up at The White Hart, Corsley — around 25 to 30 bulldogs came along in the end. It was a brilliant gathering with lots of new faces, and it’s always heartwarming to see people travel to be part of it.
“We’re proud to be a positive mascot for the breed and to help bring owners together in such a friendly, welcoming setting.
“With 10.6 million pet dogs in the UK, it’s a real pleasure to welcome them into our pub as part of the family. Events like this are not just about the dogs — they build friendships and community, both human and canine.”
Ann Bartlett travelled from Bournemouth to attend the meet-up with Monty, 4, and Poppy, 3.
She said, “I’ve come most of the years Adelle has run this. It’s really worth the drive, everyone here is so nice. I love bulldogs, they can be stubborn but they’re so loving.”
Sean attended from Devizes with his six-month-old French bulldog Hazel. He said, “This is my first time at the White Hart and I love it.
“It is great how Adelle knows all about each individual dog and their place in the community as well.”
Younger attendees were also full of praise. Felicity Colborne, who attended the meet-up with her sister Victoria and mum Laura, said she loved the chance to meet so many dogs as she wants to be a vet when she grows up.
When asked about her favourite thing about her own bulldog, Darcy, Felicity said, “My favourite thing is probably her good cuddles.”
